About the show

Throughout history, repetition has been central to creative and contemplative practice, seen in the rhythm of chanting, the turn of beads, or the steady cycle of breath. In Centered, the dot becomes a gesture of focus, simple in form yet powerful in accumulation.

Whether suspended in space or placed deliberately on a surface, the dot transforms through rhythm, repetition, and intention into a mark of presence. It records time, energy, and movement, carrying quiet weight in its simplicity.

Here, the dot functions as both symbol and structure, like a pixel or a cell, part of a larger system built on connection. The artists in Centered explore how repetition and variation give rise to complex forms, patterns, and textures. Through both abstract and representational works, they trace the tension between order and chaos.

Centered invites viewers to slow down and follow the rhythm of these marks, finding meaning in the smallest gestures repeated over time.

Ining’s Tings, 2025

Acrylic paint on wood panel

60” x 36”

SOLD

The piece is dedicated to my late grandmother, Illuminada (Ining), who loved gardening and her flowers. Her meditation was her gardening, and it features all the flowers I remember from her garden, including orchids (her absolute favorite), angel's trumpet, crown of thorn etc. “Ining's Tings” is a whimsical representation of her surrounded by the "tings" that brought her the most happiness in life. My uncle illustrated a sweet little book in her memory after her passing and I just loved the title “Inings Tings” so i got his permission to reuse it.

This artwork will be part of a group show called "Centered," which explores the theme of dots as a representation of mindfulness and meditation. The repetitive nature of dots in art echoes the calming rhythms of gardening and the peaceful moments spent among the flowers. By integrating these elements from my grandmother's garden, the piece serves as a meditation on memory, nature, and the tranquility that comes from repetition and focus.

Four Flames, 2025

Acrylic paint on bleached king helmet conch shell (Framed)

13” x 16”

SOLD

Four Flames is part of Centered, a show exploring meditation, stillness, and returning to the self. The king helmet conch shell sits at the heart of the piece, with a deep blue teal background that evokes the quiet depth of the ocean and the calm space the mind can reach through meditation.

Four bright orange orchids rise like flames across the surface. In meditation, flame is often a symbol of focus and awareness, a steady point the mind can return to again and again. The orchids echo this idea and represent four sparks of presence such as breath, balance, clarity, and inner warmth. Their vibrant color glows against the calm background, much like moments of insight that appear in stillness.

The piece is framed in a handcrafted border made by my fiancé from fiberglass, wood, and resin. This thoughtful collaboration adds another layer of care to the work and completes the piece as an invitation to pause, breathe, and return to center.
